EPSC Benefits

EPSC 2008 President's Award

Todd Loeper  - The Council Cup almost was cancelled this season. The Board was notified in mid-January that Rich Wagner was too involved with the youth race program at Bear Creek and that some things had come up at home. After some frantic last minute searching, Todd Loeper, from the flying Dutchmen Ski Club, stepped up and volunteered! With only a few weeks of actual hands-on planning, the Council Cup came off without a hitch and everyone had a great time due to Todd's efforts. Even though Todd is not planning for the 2009 Council Cup, I would like to thank him for his successful efforts in this year’s race.

Vicki Meitus - Once again the Council's Winterfest and Auction was a success! There is a lot that goes into such a large event. The planning of the next event starts right after the completion of the current one. There are many committee meetings that continue throughout the year to ensure that all the details are tweeked to perfection. As with every large event, there needs to be some guidance. One person leads the various committees. I would like to thank Vickie Meitus for successfully assuming the chair position for the 2008 EPSC Winterfest and Auction.

Maddi Dondore - There was one person who held many positions this year. When there was no one to coordinate the President's Picnic, she stepped in. She volunteered to be the ticket committee chair for the Winterfest and Auction and when she found out that we were in dispirit need of someone to run the Council Cup, she immediately started the search in the Flying Dutchmen. All this in her first year being active in the Council! That's not to say that she hasn't been seen at our meetings, I’m sure you’ve seen her over the years. Many thanks go to Maddi Dondore for all of her efforts this past year. You be seeing and hearing from her in the year to come!

Fritz Keoning Award

Fritz Koenig Merit Award is awarded each year to the person who has contributed the most to Council, this award goes back to 1967, and can be more than one person for the presenting year. This year's recipient has held several positions in the EPSC for many years. Some of these are Safety, Ski Patrol, and Vice President. In her current position of Treasurer, she took on the position after the passing of Lynn Chichester. A formidable task given she had no one to fall back on for questions about previous transactions. I know she will continue to contribute to the EPSC through the Safety position and hopefully in other aspects. I would like to thank Judy Armstrong with this award for her many years of involvement to the Council.

This award goes to the Club who’s volunteer’s have helped make the Council successful. This club has provided a ticket committee for the Winterfest and Auction that made the event's check-in go very quick and smooth. They supplied us with a person who personally volunteered for several events. It goes to say that they also came to our rescue for a second year in a row to make the Council Cup a success. This club has been in the Council since it’s inception and is about to celebrate it's 50th anniversary in 2009. Please show your thanks to the Flying Dutchmen Ski Club for their support of our Council!
