Wildwood 2008
Sep 26-28

Some of you may be thinking about putting away your skis and getting out the summer stuff. We're not putting away our skis, but we are thinking about the end of summer already. Of course, that means planning for the FDSC's monumental annual trip to Wildwood. September may seem a long ways off, however you need to plan now if you want to be a part of this great annual event. This year's event will be from September 26th to September 28th. (Arrangements can be made if you want to arrive earlier or stay later.) Once again we will be staying at the American Inn in North Wildwood. The hotel is ideally located on the beach just off the north end of the boardwalk.

On Saturday morning, we will be continuing the tradition with the Fourth Annual Flying Dutchmen Volleyball Tournament. Saturday afternoon will be the Second Annual Shot Key West shot party and contest. You've got the summer to perfect your shot creation. We'll supply the serving tables and shot
cups. You bring the fixings for your favorite shot. (Remember - presentation is 1/2 the fun.) We'll vote and have some fun prizes for the winner. We've heard a lot of rumors about what you are scheming up to make this contest even more interesting (and we encourage it.) Saturday night we have a great dinner on the beach and entertainment by the pool. On Sunday, there will be our "soon to be world famous" brunch followed by the Sand Sculpture contest. If this sounds like way to much energy for the beach, then just hang out on the boardwalk, beach or by the pool.

We have kept the price the same for 3 years. However, due to the New Jersey special FDSC "Fun" Surcharge, we have had to adjust the prices. The cost per person is $170 per person for a double, $155 per person for a triple, and $145 per person for a quad. (If you have a house in the area and just want to stop by for a while, let me know and we can work a price based on what you attend.) The incredibly cheap price includes:

  • Lodging Friday night and Saturday night

  • Breakfast Saturday

  • Dinner on Saturday

  • Brunch on Sunday

  • Endless munchies

  • Endless Beer, Wine, Soda and Water

A deposit of $50 per person holds your space and rooms go quick. If you have not made a deposit then you do not have a reservation. Final payments will be due by September 1, 2008. Payments (made payable to FDSC) can be mailed to Stan Miller or Erick Confer at 66 Glenview Drive, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Give us a call at 610-944-3617 for more information. There will be no refunds for cancellations after September 4th, 2008.

Mr and Ms Flying Dutchmen Contest and Fashion Show on Dec 6

Mr. and Ms. Flying Dutchmen 2007 – 2008

Congratulation to Jeff Rapp and Sherry Vazquez

We had a great time this year bringing back an oldie but goodie. Our contestants strutted their stuff wearing the latest in ski and snowboard apparel in this year’s FDSC Fashion Show. Thanks to the nominees for making it such a great night. We would also like to thank Jim Dolan and Kyle Moyer for being stand-ins for Jeff Rapp and Neal Kline who were off skiing in Vail.

We would like to send out a very special thank you to Buckman’s and Pinnacle Sports for their contribution of prizes. They also provided the outfits for our contestants to wear for the fashion show. Each contestant modeled two outfits from the ski shops, and then they came out with one of their own unique creations.

Here’s how the night ended:

Winners - Sherry Vazquez and Jeff Rapp
1st runners up - Holly Trout and Neal Kline
2nd runners up - Kim Wittich and Kevin Claypoole
3rd runners up - Debbie Pasquale and Dave Stottlemyer
4th runners up - Suzanne Claypoole and Dale Kilpatrick

In addition to the prizes donated by Buckman’s and Pinnacle Sports, Bear Creek donated two off-peak season passes. We also received voucher from the following ski areas: Ascutney Ski Area, Belleayre Mountain, Blue Mountain, Elk Mountain, Jack Frost/Big Boulder, Loon Mtn Recreation Corp, Mount Snow, Park City Mountain Resort, Seven Springs Mtn Resort, Shawnee Mountain,
Liberty Mountain, and Stowe.

Thanks again to everyone who made the night a success and congratulation to Jeff Rapp and Sherry Vazquez.
