| The most unique benefit of being a member of the FDSC is our lesson program. Lessons are free to members after paying a registration fee of $25 to defray some of the costs of the program. Our instructors are PSIA certified and many are Level II. Most have or are currently teaching at a mountain. Many have been long time members of the club and they all devote their time every Tuesday for seven weeks. By attending on the hill and classroom clinics the instructors remain current with teaching standards. The apprentices are members of the club who have been recognized by our instructors as having excellent ski/snowboarding ability along with great communication skills. Apprentices assist the instructors to assure that our students receive the most attention and demonstration to enhance their learning experience. |

PSIA CERTIFICATION LEVEL: II YEARS INSTRUCTING: 30+ SKI AREAS TAUGHT: Blue Marsh, Winterpark, CO George began skiing in 1967 when his neighbor asked me if he would like to go to Sharp Mt. for their Friday night special - lift, lesson and ticket for 4 bucks. The following week his wife Dotty went, and skiing became a family experience, which we have enjoyed for these many years. The next season we all joined what is now Bear Creek, and the year after, Heidelberg. George became a teacher in 1971, and Dotty a year later. "We weren't great skiers, but we taught with great enthusiasm." They became members of PSIA in 1975. George was certified Level II in 1981, and Dotty in 1986. Teaching at Blue Marsh until 1989, then joined the Winter Park, CO Ski School for five very successful years. "It is our great pleasure now to teach with this very fine organization and to make many new friends." |
